Well it’s been a long wait but it’s over now.

First issue, came a month after ordering. Skoda was having trouble supplying the beige leather interior so had to go with black.

Second issue, came with the built slot being moved back.

Third issue, the woman in charge of dealing with our car left to work for Vauxhall.

Things improve and the car is moved back to original slot and would be here for the original agreed date but we pick the next day as the dealership would of been too busy and we didn’t want to rush our hand over.

Issue four, only after taking the car and putting it to use notice she has the wrong shoes. She should be wearing 18" Pegasus alloy wheels but actually is wearing 18" Modus alloy wheels. This last one isn’t really an issue as I like the ones she’s wearing better than the ones I picked.

Kinja'd!!!

DRLs and side lights.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Already put to use.

Kinja'd!!!

More pics later today (it’s 3am here in the U.K.) when I give her, her first wash and protection.

Ugh why can’t we get liftback sedans like this in the US. With these new “coupe like” roof lines it just makes more sense.

Beautiful car, by the way!

that is really nice - kind of a Skoda-ized passat hatch? What motor - the 1.8tsi?

If you’ve got an extra 60 large laying around, you can buy an A7.

In the dealership showroom they had a Magnetic Brown Metallic, diesel, manual, imagine the Jalop and OPPO points I could of accrued with it. Lol.

((like the one below))

But ye’, the Petrol Blue Metallic looks great. Can’t wait till the summer when the colour will really pop in the sunlight.

It’s sisters are the VW Passat B8 and Audi A6 C7. Same platform and underpinnings just marque differences in style and engine range.

It is essentially a VW Passat B8, only cheaper and better. :)

It’s a 148bhp 1.4TSi ACT (active cylinder technology, two cylinders around town, all four cylinders when more pace is needed). It’s also Stop/Start enabled and a guy with the same motor is now getting 85mpg UK (71mpg US) after bedding in on his daily 75 mile commute.

Thanks I was actually very nervous as to how dark she would come out and that I may not like it. There isn’t a lot of flake in the metallic but that may just be down to the dull day we had yesterday.

That’s the other thing with Skoda. They think about the business user with specs starting with:-

S spec= Base model

SE spec=quite a few extras, better sound system and

SE Business= extras over the S tailored towards business users

SE L Exec= well specked with great infotainment system.

A now ex-taxi driver friend put over 130,000 on his 2011 diesel Mk2 estate as a hot seat taxi doing airport shuttles routes, small city usage and long distance England/Scotland border to London in one evening. He also used to drive to southern Spain for his extended holidays.

It’s Petrol Blue Metallic. I believe it’s called Lava Blue Metallic in Europe.

It’s available in solid blue as well as the metallic.

One person reckoned it looked green in one light and another person said it looked black in another light.

It looks absolutely fantastic. The paint really makes the car stand out. Wish we got the cream of the VW crop here in America.

Enjoy your ride in good health.

It’s got great presence on the road. It’s long, wide, low, the DRLs are distinctive, the colour really suits it, etc...

Unfortunately Skoda is considered the cream of the crop but a budget brand.

Congratulations! It looks great - looking forward to seeing more pics!

Does this model still have the weird two piece hatch that can open like a sedan? If so is it any less cumbersome to use than the Mk2?

No they deleted the twindoor and is now just a single piece electric hatch. To the first glance she looks like a saloon car which I like. The twindoor while a fantastic idea, added a lot of weight to the rear and reduced the creativity of the designs.

Some are undecided about the rear wiper though (no cost option) as they feel it breaks up the lines but I like to be able to see out of the rear when needed.

Cheers. There was still many options to add to the car but it already had so much the only thing added was the heated windscreen.

With discounts and Skoda Loyalty scheme got effectively a VW Passat (but better) for the price of a VW Golf Bluemotion. Just another thing to smile about. :)

It is such a good looking car, very clean lines, nice panel gaps, subtle details etc and the colour and wheels really set it off, I see you have the boot full already with your cleaning stuff, is that in prep for coming to Manchester to clean my 2 filthy beasts?? LOL ;) Ever since my dad got his Skoda Yeti last year (facelift one in the off road looking trim), I have been liking Skoda's newest designs more and more, the new shape Octavia in Vrs trim (petrol with DSG) is looking very attractive to me, esp in the blue with the black pack..........

Probably for the best - I liked the novelty of the Twindoor but when I tried one once it was so slow to lock the mechanism to lift the whole hatch. I’m sure it would be annoying to live with, especially if you had to load larger items regularly.

As for the rear wiper, I can see how it does break up the clean lines a bit, but I agree with you- I would choose to have it regardless.

Ye’, it’s awful. Why can’t motor companies just do a blanket universal release.

Kinja'd!!! Svend > Have car, will drive (now has a motorcycle too)
03/03/2016 at 06:41

Kinja'd!!!0

The Mk2 Twindoor had a single button in the centre you pressed to open it one way and then to open it the other way you pressed the button in the centre then another button a few inches to the right and then listened for a couple of seconds as the motors whirled and then let you open it. The Mk2 facelift retained the two buttons but more simply you pressed the centre button to open it one way and to open it the other way you only had to press the button to the right.

The Mk3 means I only press one button and it’ll open itself either from inside the car, the keyfob or the boot button, to close it you can only close it from the boot button.
